The Coronary Disease Research Centre was set up in 2000 to research various aspects of Interventional Cardiology. It is based at St Thomas ' Hospital, one of the highest volume Cardiac departments in the UK . In 2004, the unit performed over 6,000 diagnostic procedures and 2,000 percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), making it an ideal environment to conduct clinical research into coronary artery disease.
The unit provides an excellent environment for Specialist Registrars to complete the research and clinical components of their higher specialist training in interventional cardiology.
